Placówka is a guesthouse in the Polish Masuria region that rents rooms in an old, beautiful house. The task was to make a website that would fully convey the place and the beauty of the surrounding nature.

The text also matters and received proper attention, but for guesthouses, resorts, and other tourist places, photographs sell first — so the decision was to put the emphasis on them.

The house has four rooms, each available for booking. You can also book the entire house. Each room is presented as a separate card. The description gives the most important information about the room. The button is informative as well — it already includes the price per night.

Horizontal navigation was also solved well. It is reasonable to assume that a user will want to compare several rooms before choosing. So each room page has links to the other rooms. To look at another room, the user does not have to go back up a level.

The guesthouse has a professional photographer, and there really are a lot of great photographs. So that they would not go to waste, a separate gallery was made, where you can look at photos of the guesthouse and get a better sense of the surroundings, the kitchen, and the interiors of the rooms. To make looking at them more interesting, the photographs were not laid out as a monotonous grid, but as one where format and size alternate.

The house that Placówka occupies has stood for more than a hundred years, and the guesthouse itself has been running for more than twenty. That story needed to be told, so a separate text page was created about how the guesthouse came to be.
